MAYTIDE

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

Maytide creates embossed and foiled boutique wedding and event stationery catering for those special few who appreciate the sophistication of simplicity and the value of individuality and personal style. Everything by Maytide is absolutely 100% sustainably produced using recycled materials and handmade processes.

As for me a bit about me. I love pink things, silly old songs, Melbourne, grapes, French films, flower s, soft kitty cats, gold, silver, les bon vivant, blah, blah, blah, all shades of white, electro folk music, neon lights, knitted things, déjà vu, clumsy people, P O P C O R N, and Julien to name just a few!

What do you do in your free time?

Eat fish and chips with my husband, trawl second hand markets, with my husband trailing behind holding the bags, and get as many hugs as I can from my husband.

…yep…corny.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

White. I’m trying to be pure…HA! I would also like to be holographic silver sparkle a little bit at the moment.

No really, I love all shades of white. I guess being a stationery artist, I get to use lots of colour, and so I get my satisfaction in white. The different natural whites you find in nature especially thrill me. ie. Snow, cotton balls, recycled papers, flowers and things like that.

For some reason, everyone buys me pink things…I guess I secretly like it too, but I can’t really say I like pink, or LITERALLY my entire apartment will be like a pink elephant…eeeked all over the place.

Gemma Lauren

GEMMA LAUREN INVITATIONS

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

The creative individuality that you see in each different couple and of course 2 people head over heels for each other

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

Maybe not the most unique thing but it was very sweet… we attended a friend’s wedding by the lake, as their guest book they had all the guests sign an old fashion paddle that belonged to his grandparents. Now that paddle is hung proudly on their wall with their wedding photos and a ton of beautiful memories.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

White (I know it’s not really colour) its peaceful, fresh, clean and inspiring a blank canvas

With Love SD

WITH LOVE STATIONERY AND DESIGN

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

WITHLOVE stationery & design specialise in ready-made and custom wedding invitations and stationery, along with a brand new range of stationery products for all those paper extras you might need for the big day – think recycled timber stamps, foiled thank you cards, favour tags, engagement invites and much more. I’m the kinda gal that gets waaaayyyy too excited about paper stocks and I’m a lover of typography and design in general.

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

I’ve always loved weddings, but it was through planning my own wedding that I became hooked. As a graphic designer by day, I needed something to fulfil my desire to create beautiful things and so WITHLOVE was born. It’s so nice to be a part of such a happy celebration – I love meeting engaged couples who are just beaming about what lies ahead.

What do you do in your free time?

When I’m not designing stationery for my amazing couples or dreaming up products for my new stationery range, you’ll find me deeply engrossed in a design or wedding magazine/blog, or chilling with the husband. I also love to indulge in a relaxing bubble bath with my favourite candle, enjoy a G&T and long girly chats with my BFFs, brunch (I can’t express how much I love coffee and brunch!), and hanging out with my puppies, a beagle named Herman (Merman) and a lab x retriever, Kumar.

The Year of Colour!

2013 saw the introduction of some beautiful colour to the traditional white wedding gown.  We saw all shades of champagne, blush pink and floral gowns make a splash on the wedding scene and we loved it!

Our local dressmakers are really making a mark with their flair and passion for technique, style and colour.

Take our very own Begitta – Bridal & Couture for example and this amazing lavender gown which she released this year.

Or the crazy talented Jennifer Gifford Designs and her gorgeous floral piece.

This beauty from Wendy Makin has also caught our attention this year.

We think Brides are going to get even more adventurous in 2014 and are officially calling it the “Year of Colour”.   We can see a lot of pastel watercolour along with the continuation of floral in wedding gowns coming our way. What a beautiful way to let your personality shine through on your wedding day.

Saving The Planet… One Invite At A Time!

We are lovers of the Earth here at ADA and it’s awesome to see ethical, nature loving wedding suppliers doing their bit to help preserve this place we call home.

Whether it’s recycled, up-cycled, handmade or home grown we love to see what can be done with leftovers that other people may have just thrown away.

As more people become aware of their carbon footprint we’re also noticing our Bride’s making more of a conscious effort to go “green” with their wedding choices.  And going green doesn’t mean giving up on quality, quite the opposite actually!

Take Maytide for example.  The result of using recycled materials, coupled with boutique craftsmanship, result simple clean designs and superior quality workmanship.  Classy and kind to the planet, go Maytide!

Maytide 2

Maytide 3If you’re looking for more ways to have a planet-friendly-party then let us know!  There are lots of awesome suppliers on the coast who make a big effort to reduce their carbon footprint and we’d love to send some your way.

The bright Sunshiny Day – and all that was 2013…

As wedding fair season wraps up and all the lovely wedding folk gear up for peak wedding season – over at A Darling Affair HQ we finally have some time to kick back and reflect on our last event for the year and the wonderful year that we had.

Earlier this month we greeted our home town with a line up of amazing wedding professionals and artisans at the gorgeously quaint Woombye Chapel – for our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair. Once again we cheated the seasons and wound up with a day better fitting to Spring than the middle of winter.

By 10am there was a line-up at the welcome table and it wasn’t long our two buildings were buzzing with crowds. As if all had received some kind of memo, lady luck ensured that each of our two spaces had their own unique vibe going on – it seemed our Chapel vendors opted for white, pastels and with accents of gold – whilst our hall was more colour-pop and eclectic.

Once again the day went off without a hitch, we had such a lovely day mixing and mingling with our vendors and guests. A few highlights included our two fashion parades, live music courtesy of Love Note, our requisite Piñata Bash (kindly provided by Party Pony), a good ol’ bouquet toss (bouquet provided by Twig & Blossom), and plenty of fun snaps in both the Kissing Booth and Photo Booth provided by KissStudio. However, all of these are again outweighed by feelings of warmth and friendship that we felt amongst all who attended. 2013 for us has been a year of sunshiny, love filled, colourful events – supported dozens of gorgeous, talented, creative people whom we now consider friends. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – we do what we do for love of weddings and the crazy-cool people we get to meet and work with.

Here’s to you Darlings – thank you for a fabulous year! We’ll be in touch soon with our plans for 2014,

Carrie & Em xx

P.S. And now what you’ve really been waiting for, a few pictures of the day – courtesy of Chad and Tyler of Dear & Tine. Head here for a reminder of all who were involved and a great highlight video from Playback Studios.

Our Darling Venue – The Chapel Woombye

When Emily & I went on the search for our next venue to host the Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair for A Darling Affair for 2013. We had 3 venues in mind.
The Chapel Woombye was the third one we looked at and was the best by far. We fell in love with this chapel and it’s charm.
Image
The Chapel was built on the site of Cobb’s Camp stables and officially opened on 12 December 1912. It became the Woombye Uniting Church on 22 June 1977. Recently renovated by Coast Church and is ready for weddings!

The manger John is just fantastic. We found him to be so easy going and helpful. He made our day a breeze and he does the same for couples that book The Chapel for their walk down the aisle.
John is also a pastor! He is the whole package and can wed you as well.
Image
After you say “i do” you can spend the time on the lawn area chatting with your loved ones and have a few refreshments. The Chapel is really what you make of it.
Our stylists can make The Chapel blossom into something incredible with their props and furniture: Simply Style CoStyle Le Aisle, Decorating Divas.
simply style co set up
What we love about The Chapel is it’s location. Woombye has some beautiful surroundings for photos. Just driving around the area really inspires me with it’s old town charm. It is only 15 mins from beautiful beaches and close to other venues that you can have your reception at.
One venue we know of that’s close and is opening soon is The Lakehouse. Get married at The Chapel Woombye and head over to The Lakehouse to complete your beautiful day in style.
Here’s a few sneak peeks of the wonderful interior finishes at The Lakehouse:
