The bright Sunshiny Day – and all that was 2013…

As wedding fair season wraps up and all the lovely wedding folk gear up for peak wedding season – over at A Darling Affair HQ we finally have some time to kick back and reflect on our last event for the year and the wonderful year that we had.

Earlier this month we greeted our home town with a line up of amazing wedding professionals and artisans at the gorgeously quaint Woombye Chapel – for our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair. Once again we cheated the seasons and wound up with a day better fitting to Spring than the middle of winter.

By 10am there was a line-up at the welcome table and it wasn’t long our two buildings were buzzing with crowds. As if all had received some kind of memo, lady luck ensured that each of our two spaces had their own unique vibe going on – it seemed our Chapel vendors opted for white, pastels and with accents of gold – whilst our hall was more colour-pop and eclectic.

Once again the day went off without a hitch, we had such a lovely day mixing and mingling with our vendors and guests. A few highlights included our two fashion parades, live music courtesy of Love Note, our requisite Piñata Bash (kindly provided by Party Pony), a good ol’ bouquet toss (bouquet provided by Twig & Blossom), and plenty of fun snaps in both the Kissing Booth and Photo Booth provided by KissStudio. However, all of these are again outweighed by feelings of warmth and friendship that we felt amongst all who attended. 2013 for us has been a year of sunshiny, love filled, colourful events – supported dozens of gorgeous, talented, creative people whom we now consider friends. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – we do what we do for love of weddings and the crazy-cool people we get to meet and work with.

Here’s to you Darlings – thank you for a fabulous year! We’ll be in touch soon with our plans for 2014,

Carrie & Em xx

P.S. And now what you’ve really been waiting for, a few pictures of the day – courtesy of Chad and Tyler of Dear & Tine. Head here for a reminder of all who were involved and a great highlight video from Playback Studios.

A little white church, a white picket fence, and a couple in love…

After an amazing event at the Gold Coast over the weekend (wrap up on its way soon!), we can’t wait for our next event – our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair to be hosted at The Chapel Woombye on August 10th.

About a month ago we gathered together some of the Sunshine Coast’s finest wedding professionals to collaborate on a promotional shoot at our venue. We also ticked off one of our dreams on the A Darling Affair Bucket List – shooting real love by casting a REAL LIFE COUPLE, Michelle and Sam.

The brief for our shoot was spring inspired lavish florals, romantic glamour, with vintage touches and a modern twist. We love the final result – and I’m sure you’ll agree the added ingredient of genuine adoration between Michelle and Sam is the icing on the cake.

The shoot captured by our friend Chaddy from Dear & Tine features styling by our fair sponsor Style Le Aisle, gowns from the latest collection by our sponsor Marilyn Crystelle Bridal, florals by Willow Bud, Make-up by Natalie Hunter MUA and Hair by Monique from Altered Images. Of course it also features our fair venue – the gorgeously quaint Chapel Woombye that we love and adore!

So with out further a-do, here are the gorgeous images, along with some behind the scenes shenanigans.

Mouth Watering Wedding Favours

Anna from Anna’s Perfect Partie’s has our mouths watering so bad right now and here’s why:

“Creating that perfect wedding favour is such an important way to end such a magical occasion, they should compliment the theme of your wedding and leave your guests with a beautiful memory. This can be quite challenging and time consuming. You want them to be personal yet fun and unique .

I just love edible favors at weddings. Gone are the days of the almonds!

My cakes in a jar add that perfect touch to your wedding whether you include them on your dessert bar or display them separately as your guests leave. Cakes in a jar add that cute factor and create a real talking point amongst your guests.

You can choose to add a small tag to each jar with a personal message encrypted. A sweet ribbon, twine and a small wooden spoon adds that finishing touch .

Banoffee in a Jar

More couples are now opting for a cocktail wedding as opposed to a larger seated reception. Having a cake in a jar is a perfect accompaniment as your guest can be standing while enjoying their dessert. There is no mess and every portion is controlled so nobody misses out!

The biggest decision you will have is choosing what cake flavour to give your guests. You can choose a cheesecake to a layered sponge. I can create something gorgeous and delicious that will tie in with your wedding theme whether it be vintage or contemporary. Be original and give your guests something amazing to take away with them from your special day”.

Anna will be at the Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair August 10th.

We hope to see you there x

It’s a nice day for a WHITE sponsor!

WHITE-Cover-Issue19

So we’ve been sitting on some exciting news for a little while now…and we can’t hold it in any longer, A Darling Affair is now sponsored by  white Magazine! We LOVE white and here’s why…

White has heart – inspiring, encouraging, challenging and bringing back the meaning of true love since 2007. They love LOVE as much as we do. Creating a personal connection with each and every reader and not only helping couples plan their dream wedding day, but inspiring them to have the most successful & love-filled relationship. White isn’t just Pinterest on paper like other wedding mags; it’s filled with awesome and engaging editorial from experts in every field – as well as the pretty pictorial inspiration our readers love. They’re for girls, guys, families, photographers and industry professionals.

It is this tight alignment with what we aim to do with our events that makes white the perfect  sponsor for our events. The white cover and website have recently undergone some lovely changes and a bit of a spruce up with some new design. Included in their new and improved website is their upcoming vendor directory – set to launch in a few days – which is 100% FREE to list your wedding business in. Doing it for the “little-guy”, giving fresh new businesses a leg-up – so many things to love about white.

White is fast defining the fashion of contemporary Australian weddings, and its pages are filled with delicious images for all to indulge in. A few boxes of this stunning magazine are headed our way for us to share with the guests at our Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast Fair as well! In the meantime, here’s a peek at the latest issue…

Shimmering Light

Today’s feature in this month’s “Lovely Light” series is a makeup tutorial courtesy of the talented Natalie Hunter – MUA. Here’s a step by step tutorial on how to recreate this lovely sunkissed, shimmery-eye and shiny-lip look for yourself.simone

Base:  MAC Studio sculpt buffed into the skin with a real techniques buffing brush, Powered with a loose powder such as Napoleon translucent.

Cheeks:  Nars Laguna Bronzer in the cheek contours with Napoleon Bronzer for colour on the apple of the cheeks. A light shimmery highlight on top of the cheek bone, with Napoleon shimmer dust in number 37.

Eyes:  Start with a base of Napoleons shimmer dust in No 37 all over the eyelid, right up to the brow bone.

In the crease (socket) of the eye, with a dome shadow brush, add, Ben Nye medium brown Matte eye shadow, focusing mainly on the outter corner of the eye. Blend to soften any harsh lines with a MAC 217 brush….my favourite brush in the WHOLE world.

Line the upper and lower lash line with MAC eye kohl pencil in smoulder. Smudge with an angled brush to create a soft smokey line.

Coat the lashes with Maybelline’s The Falsies, top and bottom.

Brows: With a real techniques brow brush and a light brown shadow, fill in and shape the brows to suit the face shape.

LIPS:  The key to this lip is to gain as much shine as possible. I used a clear MAC Dazzleglass lip gloss and added a touch of Napoleons No 37 for that extreme shimmer highlight……

Your look is complete! ENJOY and have fun recreating this.

Thanks Nat! You’ll be able to see some more of Natalie’s work in an upcoming styled shoot previewing a number of our lovely vendors from our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair, taking place at the Chapel Woombye on August 10th.
