Fashion Spotlight: Ginger and Gold Bridal

A bride in her wedding outfit is pivotal. Game changing. A beautifully unique moment. A moment that you’ll frame and will be seen by grandkids, and they’ll say ‘my grandma had some serious style game’ … or whatever kids say by then.

It’s a moment about you, your love story and who you are. It shouldn’t feel foreign, or unfamiliar. Yes it’s generally the most incredible outfit you’ll ever wear but it’s meant to be the super glamorous version of you!

Ginger and Gold encapsulate this and their new collection Flora is no different. This collection’s aesthetic is a beautiful balance of vintage inspiration, femininity and simple sophistication. We are a little bit in love with the latest designs and somehow managed to choose three favourites from the collection, the Ivy, Daisy and Jasmine designs.

MEET IVY

The Ivy gown is both elegant and ethereal. Featuring a low back, satin slip and flocked confetti lace. The long sheer sleeves and boatneck neckline are stunningly classic and feminine.

MEET JASMINE

Beautiful classic separates with some modern wow factor. From the high collar, to the open back and then the draped confetti lace skirt, this gorgeous outfit is one show stopping feature after another. And we do kind of dream of pieces that can be worn separately after the big day as well.

MEET DAISY

A wedding jumpsuit is what wonderful, edgy, modern dreams are made of! And this gorgeous flirty design is a beautiful balance of sexy with it’s open back, and elegant with the floaty wide leg design.

Too difficult to choose a favourite, but we will certainly be taking closer looks of these beautiful pieces as they waltz down the catwalk at A Darling Affair Brisbane Fair on November 17 2018.

We’ve found that beautiful handmade jeweller you’ve been looking for

Supposedly men spend around one to three months hunting down that perfect engagement ring! Our tip, highlight this article and leave it somewhere super obvious and save everyone some time. Ok, so subtlety is not a strong suit of ours, but who doesn’t love someone confident in what they want!

But seriously, the incredible duo, Mark and Rox from Mark Neil Jewellers are some of our absolute favourites. Lovingly handmade, beautiful and functional pieces of jewellery, that are also uniquely feminine and edgy. Line them up for a custom designed engagement ring and perfectly matched wedding bands and while you’re at it, some stunning pieces for your Bridesmaids. Nothing says ‘Thank you for standing by me in my slightly obsessive bridezilla moments’  quite like gorgeous jewellery.

Here are a few of our favourites, and we will no doubt be found drooling over more of them at our Brisbane Fair coming up on November 17.

The Perfect Pop Up Bar for your Unique Venue

You’ve found it! That elusive, unique venue for your big day! It might be a remote rolling field, or an urban abandoned warehouse or maybe a beloved family property. It’s booked in, checked off the to-do list and surely everything else kind of falls into place now?

Well, along with the many joys associated with unique ‘non-traditional’ venues, certain tasks are now added. And one common logistical nightmare is the coordination of the BYO bar. Many many questions start to arise.

How and where to set it up? Does it need power access? Fridge? Freezer? How much wine, beer, spirits do we need? Oh and glasses too! And who do we get to serve the drinks? Don’t forget the ice… wait, what if we run out of ice?! Or beer? Who does the unlucky task of fetching more ice and beer mid-party?

Many questions and even more potential pitfalls.

And this is where Gathering Events enters stage left and quite literally saves the show! They are the answer to your logistical prayers! A Boutique BYO Mobile Bar Service who’s motto reads, ‘You provide the drinks, we take care of the rest!’

From Caravan Bars, to Coffee Carts to Pop Up Whisky Bars, Gathering Events know what they are doing and more importantly, know exactly what you need! Husband and wife team Jen and Adam are passionate about creating good old fashioned times, with fun and fresh twist with their pop up bars.

Available in a myriad of styles and colours, you can be sure to find the bar to match the styling of your wedding. The best part is, we have had the pleasure of working with Gathering Events on multiple occasions now, and we can assure you their team goes about everything they do with a smile.

Have a look for yourself, and come visit them for a closer look at our Brisbane Fair on November 17.

Wild & Free Beach Bridal Shoot

One of the many perks of being a part of ADA is all the beautiful shoots we get to witness being created. One of our recent ones was this beautiful shoot held on the Sunshine Coast with another group of talented vendors. It was such a beautiful day, and this earthy toned, natural textured wedding styling left us all craving a relaxed weekend at the beach.

Stylist Brooke Phillips from Sacred Wilde worked to create a shoot that would feel fresh, light and summery.  She went for a minimalist style as she wanted the beauty of all the individual details and the natural landscape to shine through and be a feature in itself so that we only enhance the amazing backdrop chosen for the day. To showcase Sacred Wilde’s stunning styling and the beautiful beachside location, the videographer Mitch from Goodness Gracious Wedding Films chose a Lana Del Ray tune to add to the shoot film that had a really impactful beat to accentuate the amazing details of the shoot. “Lana’s lyrics paired really nicely with our model’s sultry expression throughout, and the beat was nice and punchy to add a lot of dynamic cuts and transitions to capture the viewer’s attention and make them hit the replay button!”

Feast your eyes on what this dream team created, and have a good stalk through this talented vendor line up below!

The Top 5 Songs You Need To Get Your D-Floor Pumping

As avid music lovers, getting the music right for your reception dance floor is up there on our list of priorities of the most important thing to get sorted and right for your wedding day. No-one likes a dud d-floor. You know the ones we mean… we’ve all been on them. The ones where you hold on to your only friend like a stage five clinger, or the ones that have you tempted to pop in your own head phones so you can rock on in a corner on your own.

Choosing the right DJ is what will help you really deliver in the music department. If you ask around, you’ll no doubt be met with the recommendation of Aaron from Cut A Rug. His reviews on his website will leave you laughing and you’ll instantly be met with the assurance that you are going to be in for a good time if you hire him to be your DJ. So we caught up with Aaron for 5 of his favourite wedding bangers and tips that will get you and your guests cutting shapes (or rugs) all night long.

Top 5 Songs:

’My Girl’ by The Temptations: It’s crucial to get the first song right. Once everyone joins you on the floor during/after your first dance, it’s worth considering this – most people aren’t going to go from ‘zero to a hundred’ in the space of one song….so you’ll want to save ‘Sandstorm’ for a little later. I really love ‘My Girl’ here, everyone knows the words to this song and it’s a great sing along to kick things off. It’s awkward for single guys to dance and sing along to this one by themselves, but you could always make it up to them later by playing ‘Eagle Rock’.

’Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen: The last song is another big one – your MC will ask everyone to please report to the D-Floor for the last song of the night. The right song here will have everybody singing along, rocking out and bustin’ moves. This track ticks a lot of boxes and I haven’t seen it fail. It’s the quintessential last dance – sing along, air guitar, and an epic rock out that you can’t not jump around to. When the bride and groom choose this as their last song I know that we’ll be going out with a bang.

’Temperature’ by Sean Paul: I’ve been playing this and tryin’ to act like I know the words a lot lately, and it always kills….(the song, not my lip syncing). It has a nostalgic golden era club / ‘So Fresh 2006’ kinda vibe to it but isn’t too obvious or played out like many other throwbacks from this era.

’Mr Brightside’ by The Killers: Yep, it’s a song about heartbreak, cheating and jealousy, but don’t read too much into the lyrics – not every song has to be about how in love you guys are. Quite simply, this song goes off. By the time the chorus kicks in, dance floor energy levels will be hitting new highs.

’I Like It’ by Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin: I had to throw something new in here……even though in 3 months this song will be sooooooo 3 months ago. I ain’t gonna lie – it took me a minute to warm to Cardi B, but she hooked me with this one. If RnB is going down a treat on the dance floor (as it so often does) then this little number goes hard. ‘I Like It’ has a latin vibe to it, so it’s a very timely release following the popularity of ‘Despacito’.

Tip One:

While it helps if you like all the songs in your playlist – consider your guests. There can be so much value in tolerating a song you’re not a fan of IF it means packing your dance floor. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you have to roll your eyes along to ‘Loveshack’. But keep in mind who is going to be on the dance floor and what they will enjoy.

Tip Two:

The right song at the right time is super important, but if you want your dance floor to truly go off, then lead the charge. Hands down, the best dance floors I ever see have a bride and groom right there in middle of them….or crowd surfing on top of them. You can chit chat to everyone anytime, make the most of your chance to dance with your favourite people at your wedding.

So there you have it… the secret recipe to getting your dance floor pumping thanks to Aaron from Cut A Rug! *Got to run… we’re off on a mission to get invited to a wedding that Aaron is DG’ing at.
