I am a sucker for a good romantic film – my husband likes all the action type movies – so when i find a good wedding film supplier i don’t just watch one film. I usually sit in front of the computer and watch several with a snack, just like the movies.

This is what your wedding day film should be like. Not something that is saved on to a disk and watched once. It’s something that is to be watched over and over again to remind you of your commitment to your spouse on your wedding day and help you to re-commit your love to them each time you watch it.

Now these two companies and some of my favourite finds for the upcoming Gold Coast Wedding Festival this weekend. So much passion and drive oozing from their websites and social media pages that i can’t wait to see what they have in store for you on Fri-YAY night!

GOLDBEAR WEDDING FILMS

Mike and Rich are mates, they have been forever. They have been putting their hand to creative projects for as long as they can remember, everything from painting murals & making websites to playing in bands (Mike did a 4 week tour when he was 16! getting snuck in the back door of venues to play). When they found themselves filming weddings for friends something clicked, and a long way down the track here they are… letting the BEAR roam.

GOLDBEAR creates narrative based wedding films. Artfully shot, creatively driven, to reflect a moment in time and making it last forever.
Their style is described as ‘loose and relaxed’. Rich says, ‘Cheezy wedding vids are just bad, so we take a filmic approach, looking for moments of colour, tone and real personality’.

They view a wedding video more like a partnership between you and them! Which basically means they like the couple to be a part of developing the creative approach, deciding on tone and mood, cool ideas to include etc. They have even structured the packages on offer to help couples feel more in control of their film and create a unique end product that reflects them.

The young and vibrant team behind Universal York love being a part of the local creative community. Sharing the love is very important to them, which is why they donate 5% of all of their profits to charities to support those in needs #humansforhumans

They love quality people, good times and creating rad and unique things. They value quality over quantity, both in people and products.

Universal York are all about ‘collaborating’. Two minds are way better than one, and you as a couple are very much involved in the creative process of your wedding film when working with them. What we love about The Gold Coast Wedding Festival is that at the venue Rabbit & Cocoon there is a fully equipped stage so we can all have a rocking good Friday night listening to some of the best wedding bands in the biz!

Vendors and guests can grab some food and watch the performers OR cut loose and let the music take control of their dancing feet. We also have a dance off competition that starts at 8:15pm. Yep that’s right battle on the dance floor or just shake your little behind to win a prize!

No matter what you decide to do, the main thing is you will be able to sample what it’s really like to have one of these bands perform at your wedding.

Get excited! Friday night is going to rock!

LARK MUSIC

Lark Music is a fun-loving band, with a big crush on entertaining and making your special occasion as perfect as you’d hoped for.

They are as excited playing what’s fresh as much as they are playing the classics and your requests. With a repertoire that features new mainstream faves, Triple J cool, soul, jazz, pop and classic rock – they’ll play the right songs to get you up the aisle and your guests busy on the dance floor.

VELVET MARTINI

Velvet Martini are an eclectic party band made up of some of the Gold Coast’s finest musicians. They are young, exciting, energetic and can create the right atmosphere for any Dance, Funk, Jazz, R’n’B, Acoustic, Lounge or Rock party.

They engage audiences with their class and perfect blend of vintage and current music. With an ever evolving repertoire and a healthy dose of spontaneity. Anything from a solo act to an 8 piece band is available on request.

HAMILTON BAND

Hamilton Band has only existed since 2014 and has already had major success in and around Brisbane’s wedding scene.

Lead singer Lai has an amazing vocal ability and energy that explodes from the stage, an energy that draws people to the dance floor. Combine that with discipline and hard work and you’ve got an A class band on your hands. They have been told by their clients that what sets them a part is ‘flawless vocals and joy in their performance’. They pride themselves on this as they are simply a ‘joyous’ group of people.

They love to tailor their entertainment to suit every event they perform at to ensure the guests have as much fun as possible. Lai likes to think that his afro is what makes Hamilton Band unique. You certainly won’t forget an afro like that.

HAIR & MAKEUP SPECIALISTS

Two crucial elements to a brides day, is her makeup and hair. With the restless and excited sleep the night before your big day, you really need to be in the hands of a professional to touch up, conceal and most importantly beautify your face and rustle up that bed hair into something glamourous.

It’s one big day you can go all out and really treat yourself and your bridal party to the most wonderful make over. It’s such a fun occasion with loads of giggles, laughs and tears when your getting ready. BLISSFUL MAKEUP

Karla from Blissful Makeup is just the sweetest thing. Pleasant and soft natured, her personality transfers over to the makeup skills she has mastered.

Working alongside many of Brisbanes’s finest in the wedding industry, Karla is constantly exposed to what’s on trend and what the modern day bride is after. She will understand your taste and preference in make up, and will achieve a flawless and stunning finish on your face that will accentuate your finer features.

Karla is always gushing over her lovely brides that she gets to work with. You can see the real weddings she has worked on over on her facebook page and the joy that she gets out of her work. So if you haven’t picked up on it already, we think Blissful Makeup is amazing.

VELBELLA

Now Velbella is something unique and different all together. You can either be a total DIY bride or get the ladies from the Velbella to work their magic on you.

Let me explain. Velbella specialises in the makeup technique of airbrushing. You can either purchase one of their air brushing kits and do it yourself – which is a great investment for your future events that you attend well after your wedding day OR if you don’t feel 100% confident the team can come to you and beautify you and your bridal party.

Sweet Treats

These two sweet treat suppliers are any but average. Our guests at The Brisbane Wedding Fair didn’t just buy one flavour but several and some of these treats were taken home to be devoured later.

YUMMI FRUIT ICE-CREAMERY

These guys were soooo popular because of the crazy heat that was radiating outside, that they were selling out of flavours one by one through out the day, so much so that some of the Darling team members missed out all together on getting one of these popsicles in our mouth. We hope our guests enjoyed them and could give us a review of their favourite flavour so we can get one next time.

But never fear we did taste their real fruit ice creams and that truly satisfied us and kept us going through out the busy day’s event.

Make sure you track their movements down as Yummi Fruit Ice-Creamery are found at local fairs and markets across town. With gourmet ice blocks in the flavours of Lychee Coconut, Strawberry Bitters, Salted Caramel Chocolate Banana, just to name a few, you will no doubt be wanting to try them all!

I HEART BROWNIES

I Heart Brownies has given time and dedication to mastering the perfect brownie. There’s nothing more upsetting than biting into a brownie and it ends up being a standard chocolate cake. Check out these ingredients for quality: Belgian black cocoa, couverture chocolate, free-range eggs, QLD cane sugar, Australian butter and gluten-free flour.

There are so many flavours that it’s hard to choose just one, so why should you? Why not test taste them all for your wedding reception favours. There’s choc orange, turkish delight, the standard chocolate and my personal favourite choc mint, plus many more!

CROWD PLEASING FOOD VANS

These two foodies really stole the show out on the food lawn with their awesome caravans. They have nailed every part of their character and design and literally played the part to match with the crowd pleasing food and drinks they served up at The Brisbane Wedding Fair.

Our mouths are watering right now for more!

THE CURIOUS CARAVAN

With the temperature soaring above 35 degrees at The Brisbane Wedding Fair, Naja from The Curious Caravan stayed calm cool and collected like she always does and enjoyed the day serving up her crowd pleaser of a drink that had people lining up all day. – the elderflower lemon mint fizz! On a cooler day Naja can serve up coffee’s and treats to your guests as you can hire out The Curious Caravan for your engagement party or wedding recption.

But wait that’s not all!! The Curious Caravan also comes with added extra’s like vintage furniture plus some fun quirky games like a large wooden Jenga, all for the purposes of helping your guests enjoy their time getting to know each other, interacting and having some fun!

CHIPTEASE

Even with the crazy heat going on during the day it didn’t stop our guests from ordering delicious hot chips from the ultra cool van ChipTease. Sweet potato fries and the yummo regular fries cooked to perfection with awesome sauces to match. You can never go past a hot chip, it’s an Aussie favourite.

The ladies behind ChipTease have such an awesome set up and amazing uniforms to match so if you are a vintage or rock’n’roll fanatic, or if you want a variety of street food vans parked on a lawn for your wedding reception for your guests to pick and choose from you surely need to have ChipTease in the line up.

WEDDING CATERING PACKED FULL OF FLAVOUR

At the Brisbane Wedding Fair we were so excited for the food vendors that we had on board to tantalise or guests taste buds. Oh boy was the food good. I think we tasted everything that was on offer and forgot to take some treats home for our kids because we gobbled it all up!

Things literally got sold out on the day because people went back for seconds. So if you missed out on stuffing your face and trying out the caterers who can be at your wedding then here is a review for you.

POP TACO

The team behind Poptaco sure do know how to put on a mean mexican spread. Flavoursome, moist, saucy, juicy oh man it’s making my mouth want to have another pork roll right now!
Poptaco can cater for your event and will make you want to party like a mexican for more. Have a look at their instagram or fb feed and you will see it’s down right authentic food.

A great alternative to a formal sit down dinner and perfect for sharing and loads of talking and interaction between guests. Your money will be well spent on this food.

PIZZANTICA

Woodfired pizza’s on the back of a Kombi. Two of our most favourite things rolled into one! What a clever concept a woodfired oven on wheels!

Hand made gourmet pizza’s for your wedding guests. You can never go wrong with a good pizza especially one made by the masters of traditional pizzas. A great share meal for the masses and less clean up for you at your wedding reception or engagement party.

You pick the location and they’ll roll right up!

CUISINE ON CUE

Well well well…Cuisine on Cue were amazing! Amazing caterers with fantastic and personable people skills, well groomed and most importantly amazing food. This crew really know what their doing and hit the mark all through out the day.

Cuisine on Cue were serving up mouth sized bites packed full of flavour to our guests in the studios and boy were they good. They do much more than serve starters, they can cater for your entire wedding reception. You just choose what tickles your fancy and they will whip up a storm in the kitchen.

Their professional customer service and the attention to detail is what they bring to every event, regardless of the size, catering style or budget. They will work with you to meet your needs.

FURNITURE AND PROPS CREATED WITH LOVE

AUTUMN GROVE EVENTS

Autumn Grove Events are a extremely organised family run business with all hands on deck. We are so impressed with them and the contagious happy attitude they have whilst they set up their awesome furniture and props for hire.

Completely doing something different from the ‘norm’, they have created a massive tree that is set up in doors and can turn a plain hall or venue into something magical. We were just dying to have them join us with this expansive tree and finally found a venue to fit it at The Brisbane Wedding Fair and it was the perfect backdrop to our fashion parade. It was a real talking point at the fair with our guests nominating Autumn Grove Events as the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The team can work with you to make furniture pieces to suit your wedding or you can hire items from their inventory. We love the rawness of the materials they use with can be transformed and is like a blank canvas for you to style to suit your taste.

HODGEPODGE HIRE

Hodgepodge hire supply those hard to find, individually selected items. You can find them scouring flea markets and vintage shops to find beautiful vintage items from a mixture of dinner plates to country kitchen tables and a medley of different chairs, each one with its own history and charm.

They do the hard work for you and make pinterest come to life instead of you visiting tons of op shops, sanding back the furniture, putting a lick of paint on it and then having to figure our where to store all the pieces after your wedding day is over.

They have an ever growing range of items so simply just ask them what they have up their sleeves. They are always excited to share new pieces they are working on with you.

MADE WITH LOVE

You will find Made With Love with a hammer and nail in hand most days in their workshop building custom made pieces for their brides and grooms to be. They are not afraid of heavy labour and can create wonderful backdrops for your ceremony and furniture pieces to suit your style.

STUNNING STATIONERY

At The Brisbane Wedding Fair we saw a lot of our Darling Affair tote bags packed with purchases of papery goodness. From exclusively designed wrapping paper, to prints to be hung on your walls and samples of wedding stationery.

Paper is a big trade in the wedding industry and stationery suites can really give your guests a feel for what your wedding day is going to be like and your personalities long before they sit down at your ceremony.

We had some creative genius’s to wow the crowds with what they can do with their graphic design and calligraphy skills. So if your a paper fanatic like us at ADA HQ your going to love what these ladies can do.

BLUSHING CONFETTI

Well this was one of the stalls that made us go wow! This lady knows a thing or two about an ‘inviting’ display and it goes hand in hand with the invitations that she produces.

Thinking of everything that you could possibly need – gift tags, wrapping paper, that special wall hung print for the happy couple as a wedding gift the range at Blushing Confetti just is endless.

The good thing is that Blushing Confetti has an online store too, so if you see something in these images you will most likely be able to purchase it with a click of a button. Also a little FYI – they have a little Valentine’s day special going on at the moment so head on over to their fb page xx

CARTAMODELLO PAPETERIE

Cartamodello Papeterie is very unique and that’s how we like to carefully select our vendors. Their specialty is to make invitations printed on wood! They smell and feel wonderful when the envelope is opened by your guest and they look fantastic too.

They have stationery suites that include the finest details that can involve everything you need for your wedding day to tie into your theme – from the invite to the RSVP card, wedding ceremony program to the table setting place cards and then after your wedding is all done and your blissfully starting your new life as husband and wife – the all important ‘thank you’ send out to those that shared in your special day.

SWEET DELIGHTS – BRISBANE CAKES AND TREATS

We can’t go past an exceptionally styled and eye pleasing cake or dessert table. It has become more than a craft than to just place you wedding cake on a small square table with a white table cloth for the cutting of the cake.

The suppliers we had at the Brisbane Wedding Fair are not just cake decorators/makers but they are designers. They sketch their ideas by hand, create mood boards and then put the plan into action whilst working beside the bride and groom to make a statement piece that ties in with the theme of their wedding

We spent a lot of time at the fair standing at their displays with our mouths watering and looking at their creative flair.

The thing about a wedding is it is one very special day that happens in your life. One single day that you want to remember forever.

There are many unique little things that you may not have seen or experienced because you were too involved in staring into the eyes of the one you love. That’s where having a film crew on hand is wonderful as they are your extra set of eyes. The joy after your wedding when you sit down and press play for the first time and get to experience it all over again can be a real tear jerker and something special you can relive over and over again.

We were able to have some of the finest Wedding Film makers at The Brisbane Wedding Fair. They know their way behind the camera. Many guests got to watch some of their previous couples captured on camera and image themselves in their shoes for their own up coming wedding day.

MILQUE PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMS

The crew behind Milque love to talk films. They are all highly trained and very professional. Their standards in quality are well above board and you can see it in every film they make.

From the filming to the editing they really do produce something special that makes you have goosebumps and the hairs stand up on your arms. They pride themselves on letting you know that your wedding day memories are in very capable hands and will last for generations to come.

This couple is so darn creative. We loved their set up at The Brisbane Wedding Fair and it make us stop and look many times.
