Photo Booth Madness!

To send you into the weekend we thought we’d get into party mode. Photo booth’s are the icebreaker for your darling guests.

Watch them transform from timidly finding their seat at the table seated next to a stranger to bosom buddies by the end of the night.

Look at the tom foolery that went on at the Wedding Festival. It never hurts to prep yourself and steal a pose from one of these guys below!

WARNING! What happens in the booth DOESN’T stay in the booth.

The Dapper Groom at A Darling Affair

We are loving all the amazing options for our Grooms out there at the moment.  You probably know by now that we’re not your typical ‘top hat and tails’ kinds of girls… we love a bit of creativity and our Grooms are all over these stylin’ designs by Urbbana.   You might also remember that we gave 2014 the title of the “Year of Colour” not too long ago, and that is creeping into our Groom’s attire too (which we couldn’t be happier about!).  Check out these incredible suits that were on display at our Gold Coast Wedding Festival (we think our models look pretty awesome too!).

Thanks again to our official photographer, When Elephant Met Zebra, for these images.

A marquee built over the swimming pool so it was transformed into a large bridge.

MILK AND SUGAR HIGH TEA EVENTS

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

The anticipation of the future. Families. Friends. Champagne and dancing. All polished off with the most delicious cup of tea you’ve ever tasted of course!

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

Arial artists suspended from the ceiling on silks pouring champagne into the guest’s glasses. It was AMAZING!

What do you do in your free time?

When we aren’t busy with our high tea events we love searching for treasures in any place we can find them. We love op shops, garage sales, fetes, bazaars and salvage yards; there is no end of magical things you can find. Of course we also have to partake in “market research” so you might also find us sipping tea or coffee (yes, we also drink coffee) and sampling delicious sweet treats in our favourite little cafes or coffee houses.

JASPER AND RUBY

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

We make kick ass wedding films. We try to push our own creative boundaries at every wedding. Also, we are husbo and wifey.

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

We believe in marriage and it is such an emotional experience to be part of a couple’s day when they take the leap together and to witness the tangible love in the air. It sounds lame but it is so real. Delyse actually does cry at every wedding.

What do you do in your free time?

Family is very important to us so we spend a lot of our spare time with our son Israel going for bike rides, to the beach, the skate park.

Yellowbullmedia

YELLOW BULL MEDIA

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

We are Martin and Kehra- partners in film and partners in life. Our passion is capturing beautiful and cinematic imagery, then cutting it together to tell a unique story and what story is more unique and beautiful than two people joining together for the rest of their lives? We have both been trained in the art of filmmaking and audio and bring our knowledge and creativity to each wedding we have the pleasure of filming.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

We have seen a few pretty interesting things. Brides dancing on tables. A bride and a groom jumping in water puddles as their marquee flooded (talk about making the best of a tricky situation). We’ve had a wedding that had a petting zoo and recently our first Jewish wedding where they lifted the couple up on chairs for their traditional Haka dance.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

Yellow of course. It’s in our company’s name, happens to be my (Kehra) favourite colour and it’s a part of the man I loves name. Not to mention that it is such a pretty and happy colour.

Moose and co

MOOSE & CO.

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

Ever since I started making short films in 2006, I’ve loved the creative freedom that stop-motion offers. To make a stop-motion wedding video, I go to a wedding, with my DSLR camera, just like any normal wedding photographer—Only I take thousands of photos, and then edit them all together, to create the illusion of motion. Through use of stop motion, I can get really creative, and make unique, funny, and quirky videos that can’t be achieved through traditional wedding videography or photography. I take the charm from a beautiful wedding photo and the life that video brings, and I meld them together. The best of both worlds.

What do you do in your free time?

I write articles for various websites, including Your Friends House. I also write scripts for short films that I intend to film.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

Brown. Because I like a lot of old-fashioned things that are brown. Laugh if you want. Most people think it’s a boring, ugly colour. Yes, it’s the colour of poo. I don’t care. I love vintage, brown leather. Brown shoes, brown chairs, brown cars, brown everything. Fun fact: My hair is also brown.

HOMEBODII

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

We believe there is an art to getting ready and your wedding day is the ultimate dream dress up. homebdodii sits in these pre wedding primping moments of the wedding day. Whether it’s the sleepover the night before with your bridesmaids in custom PJ’s, or the wedding day hair and make-up in matching bridal robes. We still get butterflies when we see photos of beautiful bridal parties wearing our robes. Knowing that homebodii is etched into wedding albums around the country and chosen by brides to be a part of their special day is truly rewarding.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

I love weddings as they are raw, emotional and a celebration of love and commitment. Not to forget you get an excellent front row seat into family dynamics. Hmm lets see, recently I attended a wedding where the couple send out invites with a suggested song request on the rsvp it was given to the DJ and everyone had their own little tune in there, from the kids to the grandparents, people faces lit up when there song came on adding to the atmosphere!

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

I have always been drawn and I know it’s not technically a colour but I’d be white. My husband laughs that I kind of have a uniform of about eight white dresses in rotation. There is something about white that’s so pure, clean and fresh that I am consistently drawn too.

KATE Bohemaian Brides

BOHEMIAN BRIDES

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

I’m Kate! A brand new business owner trying to make it in this big, bad world! My dreams of growing up, getting married and having my own shop have combined beautifully resulting in Bohemian Brides, recently opening in Miami. Bohemian Brides offers an alternative, modern and fresh approach to bridal wear and accessories, all with an affordable price tag.

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

Ummm… everything!!?? The celebration of the most powerful emotion… love… is truly a magical thing to be a part of. I cry at every wedding, no exceptions.
I also love the fashion. To see a Bride in her wedding gown is what I look forward to most. I love to see everyone dressed up, it’s like Fashions on the Field with your family and friends.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?
I’ve always felt a connection with the colour green. It’s a happy colour that, to me, represents new beginnings and natural growth. It has an optimism that sums up the way I approach each new day.

Adam Ward

ADAM WARD PHOTOGRAPHY

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

Late last year I shot a wedding where the couple whispered their vows into each others ears so only they could hear what was being said. It’s the first time I’ve seen the vows done that way and I thought it was pretty special. There was something more intimate and personal about it.

What do you do in your free time?

I have 2 year old twins so between looking after them and running my business free time is a scarce commodity but when I can I like to head to the beach for a surf otherwise it’s just hanging with my family.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

“Happy Days” blue by Dulux how could you go wrong with a name like that.

Prue Franzmann Pic

PRUE FRANZMANN PHOTOGRAPHY

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

In a nutshell – I’m a gal that loves LOVE!! Capturing people when they are in love is unlike any other form of photography to me. When you look at an image and you can feel the emotion that a couple have, which is what makes me fall in love with LOVE at every single wedding I capture and Iove that I get to give clients artwork emotionally charged like that!

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

Again, the emotion that people have at a wedding is priceless. Not just the couple… the parents, the grandparents, the long time family friend and the best friends, they are all invested in that coupled relationship and capturing the moments they don’t see is a big part of being an amazing wedding photographer.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

If I had to choose a colour that best described me as a photographer I would probably choose black. During a large portion of the wedding day I’m like a photo ninja moving from place to place to capture things that the couple, or others, might miss. Its my job to best photograph the story of a couples wedding day so I have to be stealth in getting to the right place at the right time J….
Prue “photo ninja” Franzmann!!!

Figtree Pictures

FIGTREE PICTURES

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

I love the fact that no two Weddings are the same. Essentially I am working in a different place, every day. I absolutely love that.

I love seeing two people madly in love, and watching all of happy friends and family sharing their joy. I honestly still shed tears behind my camera during the beautiful moments throughout the day.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

The most unique thing I have seen would have to have been at one of my very first Weddings. The bride decided to ride up the aisle on her cruiser bicycle!

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

It would have to be yellow. Bright, happy and a little unique.

Josie Richardson-3

JOSIE RICHARDSON PHOTOGRAPHY

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

One of the first weddings I photographed was in the garden of a beautiful home in Byron Bay. Being that it was in the height of summer, it rained most of the day but that didn’t stop people from participating in the event just as they would’ve had it been sunny. The ceremony took place in the rain, band played on and everyone danced in the rain, and when they weren’t dancing, eating or laughing, people went for a swim in the pool. The groom’s shirt was wet and the bride’s dress was covered in mud but no one really fussed too much about how they were looking, they just concentrated on having lots of fun despite dripping from head to toe.

What do you do in your free time?

When I’m able to put aside time for fun I love to go camping in the bush somewhere or visit family or friends who live out of town. If it’s just a smaller amount of time then going to the movies with my son, which is not often these days as he’s a teenager now, or friends, or just going for bite to eat is the most rewarding thing to do when I have free time.

If you were a colour, which colour would you be, and why?

Probably blue because it makes me feel peaceful and is the colour of the ocean which I love to be in. When I’m floating in the ocean or a river it’s completely relaxing and the feeling of weightlessness makes me imagine what it might be like to be flying, and let’s face it, I don’t have wings!

THE PHOTO BOOTH GUYS

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

I am Max Power and I am the worlds most awesome photo booth. The end.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

Aside from me? Aside from all the guests  playing bingo at the reception? Aside from a bridesmaid losing a tooth whilst doing “the worm”? Aside from guests carving meat at the table whilst wearing rabbit masks? I don’t know… our weddings are pretty boring…

What do you do in your free time?

Get more awesome. And drink scotch.

Thirsty for a drink?

Just recently, one of my girlfriends asked me if I could set up a drinks station for her, at her wedding ceremony. Of course I said yes; any chance to decorate pretty things is fine by me.

Image

After getting a brief on colours, theming, guests numbers… fundamentals of any event set up…. I started to think about how to make this drink station work.

Image

I mean a drinks station is a tough one if you don’t get it right. Make it too pretty and it looks like a display cabinet just for show. Make it look unappealing… well why have it there at all, a pretty one at least takes nice photos.

Image

Finding the balance in having one is really about knowing how long it will be there for, how many people will ‘most likely’ use it, and understanding how much guests would benefit from having one. I mean, isn’t the whole point of a drinks station for guests in the first place?

Image

In my girlfriend’s case, the situation is perfect for a drinks station. The location for the ceremony is on concrete, it’s storm season so weather is very hot and humid, there is no bar and the reception is in another location. DRINKS STATION TIME!!

Image

My advice for a drinks station:
– Use buckets, wheelbarrows, items around the house that people are familiar with to display/ place your drinks in
– Write table notes for guests or have a display board with a drinks message so people get to know the area
– Have an person hand out drinks for the first 5 minutes; those who didn’t get one will definitely go and help themselves to one
– Place a ‘pretty’ bin nearby with maybe one or two rubbish cups to set the scene

Okay so these lovely pictures are from a beautiful perth based styling company called Bride + Groom, but in Queensland, you’ll find plenty of event stylists that will help you with this. If you have an event stylist already… awesome!! If not we particularly love working with Nicky from Sweet Details Events. She is such a lovely person, down to earth and super creative. Be sure to hit her up : )
