Music.  Can’t live without it… it’s that simple.  My life would be a big black hole without music (ok, that may be a bit of an exaggeration) and in my humble opinion, getting the right music for your wedding should be at the top of your priorities list.

You’ve got two choices – live music or a DJ.  Both can be amazing and can totally set the scene and atmosphere for what kind of party you want to throw for your guests.   Please do not use an iPod for getting down and partying the night away at your wedding, it will make us cry.   Instead – pick one of these amazing music vendors!

LARK MUSIC

These guys were providing those sweet, sweet live tunes in Studio One on the day of our fair.  Luke and his team are a bunch of super chilled out muso’s with a massive repertoire that features new mainstream faves, Triple J cool, soul, jazz, pop and classic rock.  They’ll get your guests up and dancing in a heartbeat.

We loved meeting the team from Lark Music and listening to them perform on the day of our fair… we also thing they’ll be a GREAT addition to your big day!  They are based in Melbourne but travel all over Australia.

BASSLINE STUDIOS

Bassline Studio’s are one of Queensland’s most popular live bands for weddings and after hearing them serenading our guests out in the gardens on the day of the Brisbane Fair, we know why.

The very lovely Steve and Bernadette are the heart of Bassline and can tailor their lineup according to your specific needs.  They cover ALL genres too so no matter what your style or taste – these guys have got your back!

CUT-A-RUG

I don’t even know where to start with this guy… Cut-A-Rug has been a part of the A Darling Affair family for years now and there is a reason we never let him leave – he is seriously the best DJ on the block.  Aaron is PASSIONATE about music.  One of our favourite ways to work is to download and listen to all the mixed-tapes he uploads to his website.  They are insanely good.

Aaron from Cut-A-Rug provided the sweet tunes for our fashion parades on the day of the fair and also did a few sets out on the lawns.  They focus on tight mixing, creating live mash-ups and throwing down real party-rocking sets. Hip-hop, RnB, EDM, Top 40, Triple J – they get it, they dig it, they play it, they listen to it.

If you’re looking for a DJ then stop looking.  We just found him for you.

If you want to inject a bit of fun and guest interaction to your wedding then a Photo Booth is a great place to start.  These things provide hours of entertainment for your guests and then after your wedding is all wrapped up, you get your own copy of all images from the night so you can see all the crazy antics your guests thought they were getting up to in private!

Trust us.  HILARIOUS.

THE PHOTO BOOTH GUYS

These guys aren’t just good at what they do… they are GREAT at what they do and they are smashing it on the Photo Booth scene these days.  Their range of funky open air photo booths all have their own names and personalities and are taking Australia (and the world) by storm.

Steve and Sophie have been a part of the A Darling Affair family for a little while now and they always blow us away with their incredibly creative stalls and backdrops.  We see guests lining up all day to get in amongst the fun and we have to admit we are usually in the line-up as well!

THE PHOTO BOOTH COLLECTIVE

Relative new kids on the block, the very classy Photo Booth Collective offer a range of open air photo booths which ooze style, sophistication and above all – FUN.  These things will fit into any wedding theme and venue and will have your guests entertained all night.  With a range of awesome props and backdrops to choose from (or you can BYO!) you’ll be laughing for hours looking at all the pics at the end of the night.

You may have seen us having fun in this photo booth with a puppy on the day of the fair… what can we say, we can’t resist a puppy selfie!

FLASH POD PHOTO BOOTHS

“The Pod” (as it’s affectionately called) is a little different to your standard closed photo booth… it’s a modern and sleek take on the old fashioned booth and has some gorgeous curves, rounded edges, high gloss exterior and an aluminium frame.    They purposely steered away from the traditional boxy photo booth rental, with its sharp edges, dark exterior and dusty curtains.

These guys can also provide a super cool photo book for your guests to stick their prints into and leave a little message for the Bride and Groom – such a cute keepsake from the night and an awesome way to remember all the fun everyone was having at your wedding!

THE BEAUTY CASE

It’s no secret that we love Khesahn and her team from The Beauty Case.  They take care of all your hair and make-up needs and will travel to you wherever you are.   This means you don’t have to get up early and rush around to appointments on the morning of your wedding.  Wake up, have some tasty breakfast and maybe a cheeky glass of bubbles and wait for The Beauty Case team to arrive and start working their magic.

These girls are fantastic and always do a flawless job.  We use them for our photo shoots and our fashion parades and are always impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail.  They are also a ridiculously fun bunch of girls and our days together are almost always filled with laughter… something you definitely want on your wedding day!

ALEESHA DARKE – A FASHIONABLE HAIR LIFE

Aleesha is a total sweetheart and a VERY good hair stylist!  She jumped in at the last minute and styled ALL of the hair on our models in our fashion parades at the Brisbane Fair.  She did a stellar job and we were super impressed with her skills and laid back and friendly personality.

Her style is natural, soft and romantic and she’s won a bunch of awards and been featured in tones of magazines over the years.

THE BALLERINA BRIDE

Sarah and Laura from The Ballerina Bride LOVE what they do and it totally shows when you meet them and see them in action.   The Ballerina Bride is a boutique Makeup Artistry service, stretching from the city lights of Brisbane to the gorgeous rolling hills of the Sunshine Coast.

The girls have over 10 years of experience in the industry, and will create an enchanting look for your wedding day that will have you radiating natural beauty as you walk down the aisle.

Sometimes we find vendors who offer something so unique and so special that we just can’t slot them into any old category… so we created one especially for these guys and decided to just let their uniqueness shine on through!

FAIR LIGHT BLESSED

We loooooooove hanging out with Dani from Fair Light Blessed.  She is one of those crazy, fun, artistic types and her passion just happens to be pottering around in her gorgeous garden.

These days, she’s known as “The Cactus Lady” and is slightly obsessed with succulents.  She pots them up in the most gorgeous little vessels and then sells and hires them to people who want to use them as decorative features OR as very unique and long lasting thank you gifts for your wedding guests.   Fair Light Blessed offers a huge variety of options including potted organic herbs, succulents & seed pots.  All orders are custom to suit you, your theme and colours.  Perfect!

GOLD WEDDING HIRE

There is nothing worse than going to all the effort of having gorgeous styling at your wedding, only to set it off with boring, tarnished, ugly cutlery that some catering teams provide.  For those of us who are all about the finer details, you’ll love these new guys on the block.  They have a range of insanely beautiful gold cutlery for hire in 4 different shades of gold.

Tash is just gorgeous too and you’ll love working with her!  She put together a beautiful display out in our gardens at the Brisbane Fair.

VESSEL AND VINE

Brooke from Vessel & Vine certainly has an eye for the beautiful things in life.  She creates extraordinary hand made homewares and decorations which can make your wedding come to life right in front of people’s eyes.  And the bonus is that once you’ve used her beautiful vessels at your wedding, you get to take them home and pretty-up your house with them too!  The gift that keeps on giving…

We were super impressed with the gorgeous display Brooke created for you guys to feast on at our fair!  We also saw lots of you stocking up your goodie bags with some of the beautiful creations she had for sale that day – good work team!

We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again… Photographers play SUCH an important role in your big day.  After months (years?) of planning and building excitement it all boils down to one amazing day.  The last thing you want is a photographer you feel uncomfortable with because it really shows in your photos.

You want someone who is cool, calm, collected and a lot of fun too.  Someone who makes you feel at ease and is able to capture those candid moments without being all up in your face all day telling you how to stand and where to look.   You want to look back at your photos and feel like you’re actually looking at yourself in your most beautiful state, not some weird version of yourself who stands with one leg slightly forward and your head tilted at a strange angle.

And after its all said and done… you guys are officially a Mr & Mrs, your guests have gone home, the cake has been destroyed and there are some mysterious food stains on your dress… the photos are really the only thing left for you to look back on and remember your day.  So you want them to be awesome!

JUDDRIC PHOTOGRAPHY

This guy loves life and when you meet him his warmth and fun and passion for photography completely ooze out of him.   He also takes insanely beautiful photos.  They are candid and moody and he does an awesome job at getting your personality to shine through your images.

Not only is this guy a great photographer, but he also has a pretty cool outlook on life in general.  Basically, he wants to help people to be happy and wants to make a difference in the world. He supports those who are actively changing the world for the better, rescuing orphaned/vulnerable kids around the world to see them grow up healthy and to their full potential.

Seriously.  I told you this guy was cool.

WHEN ELEPHANT MET ZEBRA

Ok you’ve heard us rave about these guys time and time again.  We obviously love them because we keep working with them!  Brian from WEMZ also shot the wedding for one of our own Darling’s last year so we can’t give a much bigger recommendation than that!

Brian’s passion is film photography and we think that’s awesome and gives him a pretty cool and unique edge.  Film photos have this soft and timeless appeal to them.  He is constantly seeking out natural light and incredible scenery and he uses an approach that combines fine art and editorial fashion styles.

He LOVES what he does and is a real perfectionist when it comes to getting the best images for his couples (and who doesn’t love a perfectionist!?).   He’s also a pretty cool guy and lots of fun to hang out with… so there will be none of that weird awkwardness on your wedding day.

Hopefully you guys met him at his stall at the fair!

FLORIDO WEDDINGS

Woohoo we LOVE Callie from Florido Weddings!  She is one cool chick and we love her funky, fresh and raw style when it comes to photography.   Callie shoots the most amazing documentary style weddings (perfect for you guys who hate having to pose) and the end result is always pretty breathtaking.

She also says that she comes with a built in stress absorber specifically designed for weddings which is a pretty big bonus if you ask us… She’s fantastic at helping you relax in front of the camera and getting you to look your best.

Also she loves wine.  And I love wine.  So I think she’s pretty cool.

She did an awesome job creating a modern and funky stall for our Brisbane Fair – you guys obviously agreed because you voted her in for third place in our best stall competition!
