Celebrate good times come on!

Yep this is the biggest celebration of your life. You found the one and they found you! What’s the chances of that?! It’s actually pretty awesome when you stop to think about it.

Time to make it official! So your going to need one of these: A Celebrant!

So here’s A Darling Affair’s check list for celebrants:

–  listens to your wishes and doesn’t go off on a tangent.

–  is just as invested in the moment as you both and often sheds a tear

–  is about you as a couple and not a performance about themselves.

– is down to earth and genuine and just plain awesome.

Get a celebrant that you like – you may just need a celebrant for a future date….wink wink.. they often do baby namings too 🙂

These guys stole our hearts at The Wedding Festival and we hope they steal yours too!

Candice Wilson – Marriage Celebrant

Candice just feels like “home” to us. Pull up a chair and you will feel her warmth. She’s one of those ladies that you you feel like you’ve known her forever. Her set up at The Wedding Festival spoke volumes about her. Sweet, personable and endearing.

Benjamin Carlyle Celebrant

If you want your husband to be feel comfortable then Benjamin Carlyle is your man. We have worked with Ben at a couple of fairs now. He is a family man with a tribe of kids and knows what it means to be committed.

Ben is a  guy who’s passionate about life and  who also loves a good surf. Chuck in a guitar and he can serenade the bride down the isle. He’s not cheesy, he’s actually ticks that down to earth box and has an awesome sense of humour.

So if you think your a cool, artistic and adventurous fun loving couple  you have loads in common with Ali.

Ali’s tag line is: Throw your heart in front of you and dance ahead to catch it. Oooo we do like a lovely dance or two!

A Picture Speaks…

One picture is all that is needed to take your breath away.

A Darling Affairs photographers at The Wedding Fair had set ups with loads of images – not just one – on display of their past brides & grooms. They took our guests breath away that they had to stop for a minute and get it back.

It is an essential factor when choosing a photographer for your wedding day that you connect with the photographer and their images. Now it’s your turn to get a sneak peek and swoon over their displays and get a feel for their personalities through their shooting style.

 Adam Ward Photography

Adam from Adam Ward Photography is a pleasure to be around. He has a soft natured personality and produces crisp, clean and refreshing images that evokes emotion.

Adam says, “When it comes to shooting you’re wedding, I want you to be able to enjoy the day with your friends and family in a natural and relaxed way, so for the most part, I’ll just let you do your thing and I’ll do mine. That way I can really tell the story of your wedding day.”

Josie Richardson Photography

Josie is sweet natured. She is experienced in both digital and film and it has really made her appreciate every shot, making her more skilled behind the camera.

Josie describes her style of being “predominantly documentary. I prefer images of people being themselves during a real and un-orchestrated moment.  Most  of us are not models or actors and so on, we are … everyday people.”

Josie is all about “the moment”…your moments through out your wedding day.

Prue Franzmann Photography

Prue has a fun personality. With her gorgeous smile and bright sparkly eyes she will win you over, so we can’t show a picture of you here otherwise we wouldn’t be fair to the other photographers and you’d book her straight away.

So we’ll just let her photography do the talking!Image

Figtree Pictures Wedding Photography

Soft, whimsical and natural is the words we would use to describe Kristy and they are the same words we’d use to describe her photography. Her camera and the way she see’s through it and captures images of her couples is an extension of herself. She is “obsessed with weddings” as she says herself.

Her display really speaks clearly of her wonderful photography.

Stylin’ Stationery

When we carefully selected our paper magicians for our recent Gold Coast Wedding Festival, they had to have originality in technique so we could fully give our brides and grooms inspiration and maybe even a invitation that they had never thought of before opening their eyes to the WOW factor!

Here’s a round up of the diverse styling/stationery these wonderful vendors put on show. If you see something you like contact them and say “i want that one!”

Sunshine & Confetti

They say “if it’s on paper we can do it!” and you better believe it. We have had the pleasure of working with this lovely lady on a shoot and if your looking for invitations to suit your “theme” Boom! She will knock your socks off! Oh and she also does wedding styling. Yep a lady who does it all!

These guys are the creators of our awesome signage we have dotted around our fairs. “Creative Ink & Dust” is their tag line and the word creative is not to be used lightly when it comes to them. They are a husband and wife team and love oozes out from them onto the paper or boards they design for you. A class awesomeness at it’s best!

A Special Thank You to One Of Our Favourites!

Here at ADA HQ there is always a flurry of things happening behind the scenes.  Between the three of us, the ADA machine rolls on every day of the week, churning out pretty things for our Darlings to feast their eyes on.   What you probably don’t realise, is that we have a select bunch of incredibly talented people who work their butts off to ensure we have the best of the best to show our Darlings.  One of the hardest working, and most talented would be Brian from When Elephant Met Zebra (WEMZ).

WEMZ joined us at our Sunshine Coast Fair in 2013 and fast became a good friend of ADA.  We loved his enthusiasm, his ridiculously fun Photo Booth and his swoon worthy photography skills.  Before long, we had signed him up as our official photographer for 2014.   WEMZ is for the fun, romantic & creative people out there. They love to play, love to dream and love to create the impossible.  They know how to cut through the clutter and capture a rare and special moment.  We’ve seen Brian work a few times now and his passion for his work is contagious.  Every time we see the photos from our shoots or events with Brian we feel like kids on Christmas Day… we are constantly faced with the problem of having too many awesome photos to chose from (a problem we LOVE to have!).   We love his work so much that our own Darling, Emma, has booked him as her wedding photographer this year!

We’d like to send a big warm and gooey THANK YOU to Brian for all of his hard work so far this year!

If you haven’t checked out When Elephant Met Zebra yet then do yourselves a favour and put this task at the top of your to-do-list.  Here are some of our favourite shots so far…

Darling Dresses Down The Runway – Part 3

Today we’re putting a sparkly spotlight on our third fashion parade from our recent Gold Coast Wedding Festival.   By the time our third parade was taking place the atmosphere at our wedding festival was electric.  Our Darlings were enjoying the live music, the delicious food and having a great time chatting to our vendors (who were also enjoying the food & music!).  There was a lot of love in the air and this fashion parade left a lot of people wanting to know more about Bohemian Brides, a beautiful new store just around the corner from The Wedding Festival. Gorgeous gowns are available to order in store at Bohemian Brides. Designers of these dresses shown below, from designer Pia Gladys Perey and the lovely lace gown is by Watters. Stunning hair and make-up by The Beauty Case and amazing florals by GC Flowers +.

Some Sneaky Fun Behind The Scenes

Do you guys love photo booths as much as we do!?  They add such a fun vibe to any event – especially a Wedding Festival!   One of the awesome photo booths at our recent Gold Coast Wedding Festival was the cute and funky When Elephant Met Zebra booth.   Brian (the boss man over at When Elephant Met Zebra) doesn’t just take spectacular wedding photos, but he can also provide one of the most fun and interactive props to any event… our Vendors loved this thing so much that we couldn’t keep them away on the night!

Here is a little behind the scenes fun at A Darling Affair – all photos below are either vendors, models, helpers or Darlings… see if you can guess who is who!

If you were there on the night taking happy snaps then head here to find your cheeky photos:  http://whenelephantmetzebra.pixieset.com/ada/individuals/

Darling Dresses Down The Runway – Part 2

If you were at our Gold Coast Wedding Festival then you’d probably already know all about our four interactive fashion parades.  You would have seen our models strut their stuff in their gorgeous gowns and then perhaps you had a chat with them, got to see and touch the gowns up close, perhaps you took a few photos of the dress and spoke to the designer too?  If not, don’t feel too sad, we’re about to give you another look at our second fashion parade that took place that night.  This one featured stunning gowns by Begitta and our models we made (even more) pretty by Elina Valttila.

Thanks again to the amazing, incredible and all round nice guy Brian from When Elephant Met Zebra for these photos.
