THE BRISBANE RACING CLUB – THE HOSTING VENUE

We are so excited for our lovely Darling guests to experience A Darling Affair’s 2016 hosting venue – The Brisbane Racing Club.

We fell it love with it’s old school charm and it’s nooks and crannies. You will discover something new around every corner and it’s exactly what we look for when we hunt out venues to hold our events. A good blank canvas ready and waiting to be filled with wonderful wedding suppliers and inspirational creations.

Jacqueline Moore is the lovely lady behind the scenes when it comes to booking your wedding at the Brisbane Racing Club. Jacqueline is lovely, down to earth, quick and efficient, thinks outside the box, on top of current trends and is up for a creative challenge.

With different indoor and outdoor locations to choose from at the Brisbane Racing Club you can have your ceremony, photo’s, sit down reception and night time festivities all in the one place.

The Tote Room is a popular favourite to hold a reception. It is a long hall like room with polished floor boards and gorgeous bridal room for the bridal party to have a rest in and touch up the make up in a divine full length mirror. A bar is located at the other end with room enough for your guests to kick up their heels and dance the night away.

Ceremony locations where do we start? Pick your spot! The Racing Club is open to suggestions when you tour onsite but our favourite is under the glorious ST Leger Figtree.

You’re hearing straight from the horses mouth. We have been keeping this under wraps for some time now and we are excited to announce our new Brisbane venue to kick off 2016!

The Brisbane Racing Club is a unique venue that has our hearts racing with delight. With it’s fantastic history and character the venue is opening it’s doors to loved up couples tying the knot.

A Darling Affair will be filling the venue to the brim with the most creative, friendly and jaw dropping displays put on by our Darling vendors. Our festivals are full of life, colour, fashion, live music, fun and flavours.

We are also excited to be teaming up with some incredible sponsors who will be bringing out the big guns to make this event pop!

The Beauty Case will be heading up the fashion department and looking after the interests of all our style savvy brides-to-be. You will be inspired by some stunning fashion parades and a visit to the Brisbane Racing Club’s Bridal Lounge to try on some designer wedding gowns.

Moreton Hire is bringing one of their huge marquee’s that will be packed with some insanely talented wedding vendors. You will experience their grand marquee onsite – not just in a brochure. It’s all about the ‘experience’ when you come to A Darling Affair.

The amazing team behind AVIdeas is going to deck out the fashion parade area for your viewing pleasure with a stunning display and they will be going gangbusters with their incredible lights through out the outdoor areas as the sun goes down and the night life starts.

Get it in your belly! – Wedding Catering

It’s hump day AND it’s lunch time so we thought we’d grab your attention and write about some of the yummo food and drink caterers who tickled our taste buds at The Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair.

The great thing is when you come along to our events is you get to sample everything. The Food, drink and our vendors personalities are all taken for a test run and it is safe to say that the next few businesses come highly recommended by our staff and guests on the day.

THE BAR BOYS COMPANY

Our dear James – owner of The Bar Boys Company – was a real character as you can tell from the above image. Super friendly, pleasant to our darling guests and knows how to mix a mean mocktail! Toffee apple and pina colada were on the menu and we can tell you that those things got guzzled down, however their beverages go far beyond these two flavours. Just ask James, he will be happy to rattle them off to you.

If you were lucky enough to be on the back lawn at The Chapel Woombye, like some of our darling models, you were treated to a chocolate shot with a Oreo cookie for the garnish. It was real good!

The Bar Boys Company is classy, sleek and they have some lovely styling décor to suit your wedding day theme. Add a little pizzazz to your wedding celebrations and hire them to not only entertain your guests but to keep them refreshed so they can party the night away.

The wonderful crew behind L&L Co. specialise in helping you plan your perfect day. They have great contacts that they collaborate with to provide you with the best of the best on the Sunshine Coast. One of those services is Jimmy’s Catering.

Jimmy’s Catering has been around for some time now on the coast and he sure knows how to mix the perfect spices and seasonings to make mouth watering food. At the fair they served up delicious sliders that were so delicious that we all kept going back for more!

THE FASHION PARADE – THE MAIN EVENT

The main event that draws a mammoth crowd is always the fashion parade at a wedding fair. Brides and grooms to be quickly jostle for position to see the gowns and suits float down the run way effortlessly on the models that wear them. There are jitters of excitement all round for the models, designers of the dresses and suits, backstage crew and the A Darling Affair team.

A Darling Affairs Gold Coast Fashion Parade was headlined by such a wonderful dream team. The Beauty Case and Interlaced Media rocked it again. Their hair and makeup work is flawless and the backstage crew are calm. Katz management models are getting their last pep talk and briefing. The designers dresses and suits are lined up and ready to go for quick change overs.

Talented fashion designers both local and interstate are behind the scenes. Bohemian Brides, Homebodii, Urbbana, Frankly my Dear and Suzanne Harward who travelled all the way from Melbourne to be at this event.

The anticipation builds and then the music starts.The first model steps out on to the runway…….

THE GOLD COAST WEDDING FESTIVAL – WRAP UP

The Gold Coast Wedding Festival was just amazing if we do say so ourselves.

It was the perfect weather for the end of Autumn as the industrial venue – Rabbit & Cocoon – is a market style set up with both inside and outside areas. The venue was filled to the brim with the most talented and incredibly friendly wedding creatives on the Gold Coast and beyond. It was set to be a fun night you could feel the anticipation growing in the air.

The bands starting cranking just after 5pm when our guests had knocked off work and headed to the festival to have a great night of wedding planning fun. The brides and grooms to be were cheerfully interacting with our vendors, some who are new to the scene and others who have been perfecting their art for years.

The wedding festival had loads of inspiration, colour, laughs and action with a mammoth fashion parade that was maxed out around the red carpet and orchestrated by The Beauty Case team and Interlaced Media. Our guests had eager eyes checking out the finer details of the beautiful gowns and tailored suits not to mention the models from Katz Management. The Fashion parade featured local and interstate designers. We are so excited that we have vendors traveling from other parts of Australia, like Suzanne Harward Designs, to be a part of the action.

With bellies filled with delicious food and drinks, guests and vendors mingled together like they had been friends from way back. The night went off with out a hitch and we couldn’t have been happier for yet another A Darling Affair event to go down in history as an ‘affair to remember’.

What we love about The Gold Coast Wedding Festival is that at the venue Rabbit & Cocoon there is a fully equipped stage so we can all have a rocking good Friday night listening to some of the best wedding bands in the biz!

Vendors and guests can grab some food and watch the performers OR cut loose and let the music take control of their dancing feet. We also have a dance off competition that starts at 8:15pm. Yep that’s right battle on the dance floor or just shake your little behind to win a prize!

No matter what you decide to do, the main thing is you will be able to sample what it’s really like to have one of these bands perform at your wedding.

Get excited! Friday night is going to rock!

LARK MUSIC

Lark Music is a fun-loving band, with a big crush on entertaining and making your special occasion as perfect as you’d hoped for.

They are as excited playing what’s fresh as much as they are playing the classics and your requests. With a repertoire that features new mainstream faves, Triple J cool, soul, jazz, pop and classic rock – they’ll play the right songs to get you up the aisle and your guests busy on the dance floor.

VELVET MARTINI

Velvet Martini are an eclectic party band made up of some of the Gold Coast’s finest musicians. They are young, exciting, energetic and can create the right atmosphere for any Dance, Funk, Jazz, R’n’B, Acoustic, Lounge or Rock party.

They engage audiences with their class and perfect blend of vintage and current music. With an ever evolving repertoire and a healthy dose of spontaneity. Anything from a solo act to an 8 piece band is available on request.

HAMILTON BAND

Hamilton Band has only existed since 2014 and has already had major success in and around Brisbane’s wedding scene.

Lead singer Lai has an amazing vocal ability and energy that explodes from the stage, an energy that draws people to the dance floor. Combine that with discipline and hard work and you’ve got an A class band on your hands. They have been told by their clients that what sets them a part is ‘flawless vocals and joy in their performance’. They pride themselves on this as they are simply a ‘joyous’ group of people.

They love to tailor their entertainment to suit every event they perform at to ensure the guests have as much fun as possible. Lai likes to think that his afro is what makes Hamilton Band unique. You certainly won’t forget an afro like that.

Ready! And Action! – Wedding Films

I love wedding films and boy have they come a long way since i was married. In fact i think i might be asking one of our vendors to edit my wedding “video” one day.

I absolutely love watching the wedding films of vendors who apply for our fairs and i am always on a roller coaster of emotions when i watch them. One minute i am grinning from ear to ear and then the next minute i’m crying like a baby and wanting to do my wedding all over again.

But for now i will gleefully sit back and watch the loved up couples – like yourselves – who are filmed by these talented folk.

YELLOWBULL MEDIA

After graduating from film and audio at Uni, Marty and Kehra had dreams of working on big movie sets and fetching Reese Whitherspoon her lattes with hopes of moving up the ranks to become a director.

However, after Kehra shot her first few wedding films she was hooked and Marty soon joined her. Now their movies sets are where ever their couples choose to get married and Reese Whitherspoon is their “bride” and they would have it any other way.

They are creative artists, and when they edit a couples special day they don’t try to paint every wedding with the same brush. They make unique wedding films that are in line with a couples personalities, backgrounds and tastes.

Marty and Kehra are a young, fun loving couple who are building a life together doing what they love. You can’t go wrong with a film team who know about love and know how to capture it on camera.
