Marquee Perfection at A Darling Affair

If you were one of the lovely Darling’s who joined us at our recent Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair then you probably would have noticed something veeeeeeery different this year… I’m talking about that big, beautiful marquee we had erected on the back lawn.  We filled it up with beautiful vendors and a gorgeous lounge area and then we created atmosphere with some sweet live music.  Mother nature joined the party by providing some warm winter sunshine and with all these forces combined – we had a spectacular new area for people to oooohh and aaaahhh over.

If you’re wondering where you can get your hot little hands on one of these magnificent marquees then head right over to Perry’s Hire.  These guys have been on the Sunshine Coast for more than 30 astonishing years now! We were so happy to welcome them to our fair this year and we were also very grateful for their assistance with bringing our marquee vision to life by adding gorgeous silk lining and amazing chandeliers!   Here are some images of our models hanging out in the marquee area from When Elephant Met Zebra.

Styling Perfection by Simply Style Co.

We think our Sunshine Coast Fair this year looked prettier than ever before… between the sun drenched chapel, the warm and buzzing atmosphere in the back hall and the chilled out vibes in the marquee, we pretty much had all bases covered.  Our guests could mingle and enjoy the day with lots of yummy food to eat, lovely live music and pretty things to look at all around.

We have a big fat thank you we need to make to the very inspiring Simply Style Co who managed to transform the grounds into some kind of sweet magic on the day.  You may have noticed the gorgeous lounge set up where our models hung out in the marquee? Or those fantastic chairs and lawn games at the fashion parade and the front of the chapel?  And we’re sure you managed to get a glimpse of the very cool stall set up for Hello May… all of that (and more) came from Simply Style Co.  We LOVE these guys and we’re sure you’ll love them just as much as we do… if you need a stylist for your wedding then drop them a line right now.

In the meantime, here are some images from When Elephant Met Zebra of the beautiful event styling on the day…

The Afternoon Fashion Show – A Wrap Up

Just in case there wasn’t enough prettiness on display for you at our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair last weekend, we thought we better provide you with ANOTHER fashion show at 2pm for you to feast your lucky eyes on.  This parade featured stunning gowns from the local Judy Copley Bridal, who also provided that amazing dress for our promo shoot earlier this year.  Our models got to enjoy the company of the very bubbly, fun and talented girls from The Beauty Case who were in charge of hair and make-up for the afternoon parade and our handsome men were lucky enough to be dressed again by the supremely talented Urbbana.

More amazing photos from When Elephant Met Zebra are about to make your morning so much more enjoyable!

Introducing the MAGNIFICENT Twig and Grace!

ADASC2014-436

Twig & Grace this year was our major floral designer for our Sunshine Coast Fair, so we knew that things were going to be taken up a notch… but what Dezley, Michael and the team created on the day left our jaws scraping along the ground.  These guys worked tirelessly to transform the entrance to the chapel along with the fashion parade area and we were squealing like kids on Christmas morning when we saw it come to life in front of our eyes.

Inside there was an explosion of colour! Their vintage french bike with the gorgeous wooden cart on the front overflowed with flowers that created a beautiful fragrance in the chapel. It was a glorious delight to the senses of both smell and sight and if you could eat their display you would!

Outside was a whole other story!

The lush greenery looked incredibly beautiful (we have never seen greenery used this way before – usually it’s a filler in your bouquet). It created the perfect backdrop for the day.  If you’re anything like us, you just can’t get enough of how amazing the fair looked this year.

We have never met a more organised and professional business in the wedding field, as they should be with years of experience in the industry under their belt with amazing personalities to match. If you are a creative soul you should really visit them in their store in Cooroy and stay for a cuppa and discuss all your wedding floristry needs.

THANK YOU TWIG & GRACE!  We love you. Can’t wait to work with you again!

So enough of our chatting we’ll let the images speak for themselves.

The Morning Fashion Show – A Wrap Up

Were you one of the faces in the big crowd at our 11.30am fashion show at our recent Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair?  If so, you would have seen first hand how amazing our models looked with fantastic images from When Elephant Met Zebra the stunning girls were dressed by Begitta (two of these dresses were brand new and made their debut from the new “White” range!) and had their hair and make-up done by the fabulous Sass & Niki and Boudoir Blush.   Our very dapper male models were decked out in AMAZING suits by our favourite – Urbbana.

A HUGE thank you goes to Twig and Grace for the AMAZING fashion parade fit out. An amazingly solid wooden arbour construction fitted out with gorgeous greenery cascading down thew posts is available from their hire range as well as the pallet wall structures. The magic that they created transformed the exterior of the building to a completely new space. The team can create your dream wedding with no doubt. Don’t bother doing it yourself.

When the fashion parade was over the crowd followed the the models down to the marquee and lounged in the Bridal lounge by Simply Style Co for our guests to have a closer look at the beautiful gowns.

Don’t panic if you weren’t able to make the morning show Darlings, we’ve got all the images of the prettiness right here for you to feast your eyes on.

FROZEN SUNSHINE

How was Frozen Sunshine born?

Frozen Sunshine is the lovechild of a chef (Jamie) and a product designer (Natalie). We take the best local and seasonal ingredients and turn them into delicious iceblocks. We love dreaming up new flavours based on desserts, cocktails and happy memories.

What is your favourite thing about weddings?

Our favourite thing is to do at weddings is hitting the dance floor and mingling. It’s definitely the place where you really feel the love!

If you a colour, what would you be and why?

If Frozen Sunshine were a colour it would have to be yellow, because of the colour of sunshine, happiness, fun and creativity.

Naja - The Curious Caravan

THE CURIOUS CARAVAN

In a nutshell, tell us about you and your caravan…

I’m Naja, a vintage-lovin’ gal. I’ve combined my love of coffee and vintage in converting my 1957 ‘Peggy Sue’ into a luxury organic fair trade coffee, tea and treats van with vintage styling. I transport her to markets, events and parties in Brisbane and beyond. She’s perfect for hire as a whimsical photo booth, for photo shoots and a coffee fix for you guests of course.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at weddings?

I’ve seen some fantastic ideas such as using a vintage type writer for the guests to write messages on to the bride and groom. Very vintage!

love my food photo

LOVE MY FOOD

Tell us about your food glorious food!…

I create interactive food, made to share for relaxed, fun weddings or gatherings. All the food in my picnic crates are made by me and are original recipes.

I also started the first picnic restaurant in the world where we only take bookings for underneath tree’s and eye masks are provided for afternoon naps.

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

I love people sharing food, and every time is see the guests faces when they receive their picnic crate, it’s like Christmas! My business started when i catered for my own wedding and shared my love of picnics and now i get to enjoy sharing it with more and more fun brides.

The most amazing thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

At one wedding i catered for, the groom delivered the ring via a falcon that flew down and landed on the brides hand and she had no idea it was planned!

Bring your penny’s along to the fair (no atm located on site) and have lunch with us!

Yum! Yum! Get on over to their websites in the mean time:

THE CHAPEL WOOMBYE

John is the owner, pastor, celebrant and all round good guy at The Chapel Woombye. We love this place because it’s a blank canvas and you can decorate this place to your hearts content. John very much lets you just go at it. Not many places let you have full creative control and that’s why we keep going back for more, more, more!!!

When you come to the fair you will see why we have fallen in love with this lovely white chapel and it’s nooks and cranny’s that make it a stylists dream come true.

Introducing some very SPECIAL-TY vendors!

Wild Heart

WILD HEART WEDDINGS

In a nutshell, who are you and what do you do?

We plan and coordinate awesome weddings!  We have a fresh, fun and professional approach to wedding planning and can offer as much (or as little) help as you need.  You might also know of us as Little Owl Events – we’ve just gone through a BIG re-brand and A Darling Affair will be our first public outing as Wild Heart Weddings, so we’re pretty excited to show everyone the new look.

What is it about weddings that you love so much?

The ceremony, the speeches and the dancing.  We are usually pretty involved in our client’s lives that by the time the wedding day rolls around we feel like we’re watching our friends get married, so there are usually always a few sneaky happy tears during the ceremony and speeches.  And the dancing – who doesn’t love it when one of the groomsmen decides to do the worm in his boxers and bowtie only!?

This gig gives pretty good job satisfaction – there aren’t many jobs out there where you get to work with people who are happy, excited and in love day in and day out.

What do you do in your free time?

Three words:

wine  |  cheese  |  music

We are there to make sure that Mum & Dad enjoy the wedding, knowing that their children are being entertained and supervised by fully qualified nannies.

What is the most unique thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

The brides best friends performing one of her favourite songs for her and the groom. Three talented singers, an acoustic guitar, a violin, and a very emotional crowd.

What do you do in your free time?

Plan lots of exciting ideas for Miss Poppins, eat yummy food, explore and spend time with my wonderful boyfriend.
