It is very awkward on your wedding day if the photographer behind the lense doesn’t feel like your buddy and is saying ‘cheese’ or ‘come on give me a smile’ all day.

You need to feel relaxed, comfortable and natural and also have a bucket load of fun along the way. Let’s face it, you will probably spend more time with the photographer the whole day than any other person on your guest list.

Shane Shepherd is just awesome. He knows what love is all about and it oozes from him any time he is around his wife and little family. He has great passion for what he does and is kind, gentle and feels like your big brother helping you along and watching over you on your wedding day. Oh and did we mention he is tons of fun too?!

He is the photographer that will document every special moment of your wedding day and the connection you have with your loved ones including your better half.

TRICIA KING PHOTOGRAPHY

Tricia King we love her hair style, her clothes and her personality, however we LOVE her photography and have been secretly wanting to have her at one of our wedding fairs for a long time and our wish finally came true.

Your wish of a great photographer at your wedding can certainly be granted as well. Tricia is VERY creative and loves a good party. If you head over the her website you will see all the ahmazing couples that she has had the opportunity to work with and she draws you in with not only her picture taking but also her story telling.

She loves people being their own individual selves and representing that on their wedding day.

LOVER OF MINE

We truly wish we could put this lovely couple in our back pocket and carry them around all day with us and pull them out when we need a happiness boost. This husband and wife duo – Anthony & Kim – are just so endearing, funny and caring, basically every quality that you want in a photographer to help you enjoy your day.

They capture all the fun, intimate, natural moments during your wedding day celebrations. They know what love is, and because of that they know how to capture it in the most candid moments.

TABLE STYLING INSPIRATION

There are certain elements of our stylists displays that we just fall head over heels with when they do a table setting at our wedding fairs. They give you just a taste of what you can expect from the rest of their range that they have on offer for you.

We wish we could take the pieces and place them in our very own home. Here’s a little table setting inspiration that they served up for you to be inspired by.

LOVESTRUCK

Lovestruck showed off the intimacy of having small round tables that seat 8 guests. It truly is a beautiful setting if you place the right people at the table who can have a great conversation all night – rather than ‘can you please pass the salt’.

The beaded chandelier with flowers dripping off the bottom stole our heart along with the beautiful champagne glasses.

You NEED to check out the rest of their range. They have the most unique pieces that we haven’t seen anywhere else.

CL WEDDINGS AND EVENTS

CL Wedding & Events don’t scrimp on style and arrangements. When you sit at one of their styled tables it is a feast of visual explosion and beauty. Working closely with Twig and Grace who provided the hydrangea’s – it created a richness that you just wanted to sit down and devour the rest of the cake on the table.

BRISBANE FASHION PARADE – PART 3

Last but certainly not least was the grand finale parade with someone who A Darling Affair has worked with right from the beginning and there were some gorgeous gowns and swish suits let me tell you now.

Begitta – Bridal & Couture showed off some of her new collection and they floated elegantly down the runway on our stunning models supplied by Mystique Model Management. Begitta has a passion for lace and frills and showed her diversity for each individuals brides unique taste with a show stopper of a ruby red sequined gown.

The Beauty Case and Aleesha Darke – A Fashionable Hair Life‘s beauty skills created a storm at all three fashion parades and since the event their calenders are filling up fast with bookings. We wish that they were stuffed in our back pockets every day – they know their trade and do it extremely well.

Don’t forget that awesome tree in the background of the photo’s – taken by When Elephant Met Zebra – was handcrafted and put together by the ahmazing team Autumn Grove Events who after the event won The People’s Choice Award as voted by our guests at the fair.

BRISBANE FASHION PARADE – PART 2

The lunch time crowd at The Brisbane Wedding Fair hung around and grabbed their seats early for the next installment of the 1 of 3 fashion parades. Each fashion parade featured a new bridal gown designer and this time it was Anna Dutton Couture‘s turn to wow the crowd.

Anna is located in Mackay and flew in for the event – however in saying that she works a lot with Brisbane brides and loves the variety in clients that she has in the broader area.

Black Jacket Suiting joined the parade line up with the brides-to-be looking closely and imagining their grooms in them as the guy models were strutting their stuff – or were they just checking out the guys? Either way the models looked great in them.

The Beauty Case was on hand for touch ups on the make up after round one and also Aleesha Darke – A Fashionable Hair Life, both working their magic all over again. Both these teams were professionals at the highest level, relaxed and calm and knew their way around their brushes so the models from Mystique Model Management looked gorgeous in the crazy heat wave that hit Brisbane that day.

These gorgeous images were captured by the When Elephant Met Zebra photography team and we are so excited to look at them again and relive the whole experience. For some of you this is the first time seeing these images – maybe you couldn’t make it to the event – so enjoy! x

Brisbane Fashion Parade – Part 1

Well, well, well.

Brides and grooms-to-be came out in full force for the first fashion parade of the day and we couldn’t have been more pleased and what a show it was. It was just stunning and one of us from the A Darling Affair team even shed a tear because of the beauty of it all.

Autumn Grove Events set the scene with their inspiring and jaw dropping hand crafted vintage tree filling the room as a backdrop to our parade and it’s available for hire too!

Jennifer Gifford Designs showed off her gorgeous award winning gowns. Textures, patterns, lace, fitted and flowing gowns, floated down the runway on our gorgeous models giving a fantastic diversity of designs that Jennifer tailor makes to her brides and their individual tastes.

Combined with the fantastic ever flawless make up of The Beauty Case, giving you a ‘real brides make up’ look up close rather than ‘parade makeup’ and hair by Aleesha Darke – A Fashionable Hair Life, our brides-to-be could really get inspired by the variety of styles.

We certainly don’t forgot the men in our lives, and the suits made to perfection by Urbbana were also centre stage and are of high quality that was easily evident on the catwalk.

The parade went off without a hitch thanks to the efforts of Interlaced Media and their calm, behind the scenes approach for such a huge event.

We highly recommend all these vendors and have worked with them all in the past and couldn’t be more happy to show them off to those who attended on the day and also to those that couldn’t and are still searching for their special day. Wow! Where do we even begin!? For those who came along to our first ever Brisbane Fair, held on Saturday 17 January at The Old Museum, you’ll know what I mean. What an incredible day!

We spent more than 6 months planning this baby and we wanted it to be the biggest and best alternative wedding fair that Queensland had laid it’s pretty little eyes on. We carefully selected the most creative, unique and insanely fun vendors to take part and chose the character filled Old Museum to be our host. With three studios joined by a long and beautiful veranda, all overlooking a picturesque garden area – it really was the perfect location for A Darling Affair.

The day itself was a scorcher – 37 degrees! But you guys handled it like champions and it didn’t stop you coming out in force to soak up the atmosphere that A Darling Affair has become known for. Our foodies kept your bellies full with delicious treats and kept your temperatures down with ice-blocks and yummy cool drinks. We saw loads of you enjoying the live tunes out on the lawn and making the most of the shaded picnic areas and chill out zones while you sifted through your goodie bags chatting about all the rad vendors you’d just met.

Our fashion parades also attracted huge crowds and the gorgeous indoor tree provided by Autumn Grove provided the most beautiful backdrop to those stunning gowns and dapper suits on display. Stay tuned this week as we post official wrap up’s of all our fashion parades on the day – there is some seriously beautiful inspiration to be seen!

There was an awesome vibe and an electric atmosphere at our Brisbane fair and we’ve had some incredible feedback from Brides who have booked loads of our vendors for their weddings already – this puts a gigantic smile on our face to know that we have helped you guys plan your big day!

It’s really hard for my mouth not to water when doing these blog posts about the most wonderful caterers with amazing and unique concepts for their businesses.

All these vendors will be serving up the goods for your taste buds this Saturday on the lawns at The Old Museum for you to enjoy. We are going to taste them ALL and we hope you do too!

PIZZANTICA

PIzzantica believes that a memorable occasion comes from sharing a fantastic meal with family and friends.

Pizzantica have built their business in a way that gives you this experience – Restaurant style Pizza catering service at your place using their funky VW Kombi van mounted ferrari-red pizza oven with the pizza prepared and served in the traditional Napoli way by their Italian PIzzaiolo (Italian pizza chef).

Their customers rave about the quality of food, the stylish presentation, service and the uniqueness of the concept and how this all comes together to add to the success of their special occasion.

I HEART BROWNIES

Lulu from I Heart Brownies runs a small local business specialising in delicious Gluten-Free Chocolate Brownies. Made using only the best locally sourced, ethically produced ingredients, each and every delicious ‘I Heart Brownie’ is hand produced with 100% heart!

Lulu spent most of her free time baking, it was always something that she had a passion for but never seriously considered pursuing it as a career. It’s funny how the right thing is sometimes right in front of us but we just can’t see it.

I Heart Brownies has supplied their delicious brownies to over 50 weddings and special events. Their mouth watering flavours include: Raspberry, Chocolate Mint, Cherry Coconut, Choc Orange, Turkish Delight and Salted Carmel. YUMMO!!

POPTACO

After a long relationship with Mexico itself, Kristal – owner of Pop Taco, wanted to create a true representation of it. Celebrating it’s cuisine here so she could surround herself with it’s colours, aromas and fun.

Poptaco is a vibrant fiesta catering service and authentic mexican taqueria located on the Gold Coast. A Darling Affair recently had Poptaco cater our launch party for Brisbane and we seriously couldn’t stop popping taco’s in our mouths all night long.

Owner Kristal is hardworking, calm and such a pleasure to work with we highly recommend her and her delicious food for catering at your next fiesta! You won’t be disappointed with the taste sensation that happens in your mouth and the money well spent.

It’s no secret that we LOVE wedding styling, scouring pinterest and checking out how couples style their wedding venues. We secretly wish we could have it all set up in our homes every day. We all wish that don’t we?!

For one unique day you can have the wedding of your dreams and bring it to life through one of these amazing stylists/planners who really listen to want you want and do it.

CL WEDDINGS & EVENTS

After many years as a venue manager for some pretty amazing venues both locally and interstate it was time for Carly to launch her very own little wedding planning and styling business. 2010 was the year she bit the bullet and launched CL Weddings and Events and hit the ground running and since then has had so many unbelievable opportunities whilst meeting some of the most wonderful people along the way.

Carly adores working with the couple and their families, getting to know them and then helping to create an occasion that’s personal and beautiful.

There are many facets to planning and styling weddings, and services are often very dependant on how much either creative or coordination help couples are looking for. In a nut shell CL Weddings & Events either make the logistical, hard to do task of managing wedding plans look like a breeze or we quite simply make it look amazing no matter the budget!
