Vendor Info Evening… a little venue sneak peek…

Hello Darlings!

On Friday 31 January, a lot of our amazing vendors made the trip to the incredible Rabbit and Cocoon to meet each other, and gather some info on how things will run at our fast approaching Wedding Festival (get your tickets here!).

When we saw the photos that Brian from When Elephant Met Zebra took on the night, we just HAD to share them with you.

Seriously… just look at how cool this venue is.  We can’t wait to welcome you all on Friday 21 February… actually, we can hardly contain our excitement!!!

Venue Partner for A Darling Affair – Gold Coast

You’ve all been very patient over the last few months as we’ve set the wheels in motion for 2014. We’ve been busy little bees behind the scenes setting up some new and exciting things leading in to the new year. So here is announcement number 1 for 2014. A Darling Affair has secured a venue partner in Rabbit + Cocoon – a dedicated creative precinct in Miami, the heart of the Gold Coast.

Does the name ring any bells? You might remember that leading in to our Gold Coast event for this year, we got up to some shenanigans at Miami Marketta…

Well, you guessed it (you clever thing), Rabbit + Cocoon is the home of Miami Marketta, a fabulous industrial venue, complete with street art, several studios housing creative professionals, and of course plenty of space for running fantastic events.

If you’ve been following us on Facebook you would have already saved the “when” for our event, Friday the 21st of February, and now you can add the “where”. A Darling Affair Gold Coast  is set to be our first evening event, and what a great night we have planned for you all!

Our Darling Venue – The Chapel Woombye

When Emily & I went on the search for our next venue to host the Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair for A Darling Affair for 2013. We had 3 venues in mind.
The Chapel Woombye was the third one we looked at and was the best by far. We fell in love with this chapel and it’s charm.

The Chapel was built on the site of Cobb’s Camp stables and officially opened on 12 December 1912. It became the Woombye Uniting Church on 22 June 1977. Recently renovated by Coast Church and is ready for weddings!

The manger John is just fantastic. We found him to be so easy going and helpful. He made our day a breeze and he does the same for couples that book The Chapel for their walk down the aisle.
John is also a pastor! He is the whole package and can wed you as well.

After you say “i do” you can spend the time on the lawn area chatting with your loved ones and have a few refreshments. The Chapel is really what you make of it.
Our stylists can make The Chapel blossom into something incredible with their props and furniture: Simply Style CoStyle Le Aisle, Decorating Divas.

What we love about The Chapel is it’s location. Woombye has some beautiful surroundings for photos. Just driving around the area really inspires me with it’s old town charm. It is only 15 mins from beautiful beaches and close to other venues that you can have your reception at.
One venue we know of that’s close and is opening soon is The Lakehouse. Get married at The Chapel Woombye and head over to The Lakehouse to complete your beautiful day in style.
Here’s a few sneak peeks of the wonderful interior finishes at The Lakehouse:

The Great Outdoors

One of the first things on the list when planning a wedding is “WHERE?” – where will you get married, where will you hold the reception? Booking your venue has always been right up there around #1 on the priority list.

Except, what if you just don’t? What if you don’t book a venue….what if you go without a venue? Well then you would be outside….hmmm outside….YES! Outside! Great idea.

Outdoor weddings are very popular right now, that’s not to say that our brides and grooms are forfeiting the finer details – they are simply taking them outdoors. And it looks A-MAZE-ING. So where outside? You might find a farm with a kindly farmer willing to let you use their property, or a local park, a secluded beach, or even your very own backyard; or for the best of both worlds you might find a fantastic venue that not only has indoor space but is also set on acreage or has fabulous lawns.

The key when heading outside, is not to forgo comfort – don’t leave your guests exposed or uncomfortable; but otherwise the possibilities are endless. You could make use of foliage for shelter, or a marquee. As for seating, you could use a set of mismatched chairs, bring the couches outside, you could go with hay bails, or even picnic rugs.

But without further a-do, here are a bunch of inspirational images for you to sink your nature-loving teeth into, and get your mind headed down the outdoor track. We’ll kick off with a few images of the lawn at our Gold Coast event, featuring Marquees contributed by Add-on Hire – and then of course the real-wedding images we all love!

A little white church, a white picket fence, and a couple in love…

After an amazing event at the Gold Coast over the weekend (wrap up on its way soon!), we can’t wait for our next event – our Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair to be hosted at The Chapel Woombye on August 10th.

About a month ago we gathered together some of the Sunshine Coast’s finest wedding professionals to collaborate on a promotional shoot at our venue. We also ticked off one of our dreams on the A Darling Affair Bucket List – shooting real love by casting a REAL LIFE COUPLE, Michelle and Sam.

The brief for our shoot was spring inspired lavish florals, romantic glamour, with vintage touches and a modern twist. We love the final result – and I’m sure you’ll agree the added ingredient of genuine adoration between Michelle and Sam is the icing on the cake.

The shoot captured by our friend Chaddy from Dear & Tine features styling by our fair sponsor Style Le Aisle, gowns from the latest collection by our sponsor Marilyn Crystelle Bridal, florals by Willow Bud, Make-up by Natalie Hunter MUA and Hair by Monique from Altered Images. Of course it also features our fair venue – the gorgeously quaint Chapel Woombye that we love and adore!

So with out further a-do, here are the gorgeous images, along with some behind the scenes shenanigans.

The BIG Venue

“Australia’s Famous FREE Tourism Landmark returns to its ever faithful community and visitors evolving into a Visitor Centre and Hub for Corporate and Community Events.”

And aren’t we ever so glad! Literally one week prior to commencing our search for a venue, The Big Pineapple function centre, The Plantation Room, reopened for business.

Open for functions from dawn until dusk, the function centre is flexible in its layout, offering four function rooms in total, to allow for 10 to 350 guests for your special occasion. Walled entirely by glass, the outlook from The Plantation Room is stunning. So much greenery, as you look out across the lovely plantation toward the rain forestry that borders the property.

Open for inspection every Saturday (except for Saturday 8th of September of course!) during the Grower’s market , you’re welcome to head on down to meet Sue and Annette, the lovely venue managers from Business Conferences Sunshine Coast. The duo are so warm and accommodating, you’ll feel right at home as they assist you with plans for your special event.

For anyone interested, Carrie will be booking in meet and greets onsite this weekend, Saturday 23rd. If you’re interested in holding a stall, head to our facebook page or send and inquiry via out contact us tab to book a timeslot.
